Question Wine won't configure drives in FC5

I have installed Wine in FC5 using yum install wine. When I run winecfg and select the drives tab, it says there is no C: drive so I map C: to the parent of where my windows directory is but in the console i get tese errors -

[andy@hal wine_xp]$ winecfg
Warning: the specified Windows directory L"c:\\windows" is not accessible.
Warning: the specified System directory L"c:\\windows\\system32" is not accessib le.
Warning: could not find DOS drive for current working directory '/home/wine_xp', starting in the Windows directory.
err:winecfg:apply_drive_changes unable to define devicename of 'C:', targetpat h of '/home/wine_xp'
err:winecfg:apply_drive_changes unable to define devicename of 'D:', targetpat h of '/home'
err:winecfg:apply_drive_changes unable to define devicename of 'E:', targetpat h of '/mnt/data'
err:winecfg:apply_drive_changes unable to define devicename of 'F:', targetpat h of '/mnt/windows'
err:winecfg:apply_drive_changes unable to define devicename of 'H:', targetpat h of '/home/andy'
err:winecfg:apply_drive_changes unable to define devicename of 'C:', targetpat h of '/home/wine_xp'
err:winecfg:apply_drive_changes unable to define devicename of 'D:', targetpat h of '/home'
err:winecfg:apply_drive_changes unable to define devicename of 'E:', targetpat h of '/mnt/data'
err:winecfg:apply_drive_changes unable to define devicename of 'F:', targetpat h of '/mnt/windows'
err:winecfg:apply_drive_changes unable to define devicename of 'H:', targetpat h of '/home/andy'
[andy@hal wine_xp]$

I have copied my live windows xp directory to a linux partition as linux cannot mount the ntfs volume. the parent of the windows dir has chmod 777 set recursively.

If i try to run any windows apps with wine i get a message that there is no c: drive thus -

[andy@hal windows]$ wine explorer.exe
Warning: the specified Windows directory L"c:\\windows" is not accessible.
Warning: the specified System directory L"c:\\windows\\system32" is not accessible.
Warning: could not find DOS drive for current working directory '/home/wine_xp/windows', starting in the Windows directory.
wine: could not load L"c:\\windows\\system32\\explorer.exe": Module not found
[andy@hal windows]$

any idea?

Thanks

Andy

I don't think you really have to configure it. It will automatically map drives in your ~/.wine/ directory when you try to run a program with it.

Sorted it

Well after mcuh frustration I discovered that I had an old .wine dir in my home dir from a very old version of wine so I deleted it - problem solved.

Thanks

Andy
