Wine/Winex
I am just afetr a bit of clarification on the operation of wine and winex. I am a little confused as to how to run a program. Do I need to run the windows setup file for the program once I have wine installed or can I use an already installed copy of the program on a windows partition?

You can do either one, though I personally have had better luck installing Windows programs on a fake-windows partition (entirely in Linux), using Wine to run the installer.

Does this mean you would type something like:
wine setup.exe And how do I do it on existing windows partitions? My linux drive isn't big enough at the moment to put some of the games on. Ps. Thanks for the prompt reply. |
you just run the program from wherever it is, e.g "wine /mnt/windows/program\ files\blah\blah.exe" you may need to reinstall some games though, reenter cd keys etc..
btw. do't think that wine is a bombproof solution to everything, it can be very tricky to get going with many applications and generally sucks most of the time. |
