WINE / windows Emulator & printer/scanner?

Hello,
I am just about to leap in to Ubuntu Linux but I have discovered a problem - my Canon Pixma MP170 all-in-one printer/scanner doesn’t seem to be supported under Linux. I have a sort of idea of what WINE is and was wondering would it be possible to use my printer/scanner with it?
If it is possible what would I have to do - just install the windows software drivers that came with the printer?

Any advice/help is much appreciated.

Sorry, wine doesn't work that way. It only supports software applications. Wine relies on the same Linux drivers the rest of the system does, and only translates them into simulated Windows interfaces that Windows programs can work with.

Edit: Actually, the MP170's scanner does seem to be supported by sane with the sane-pixma backend. And Turboprint says it supports the printer, if you're willing to pay for it. Follow the links in my sig.
