Wine Setup Questioneer

I have read that installing Windows 98 files in a certain order can help promote stablity and ease of use with wine. If this is true, then I need to know two things.

1) Is it mandatory that I must install Win98 on my comp. due to hardware drivers?

2) What is the process of doing this, in what order, what files, what locations.

This is possibly the bigest question I have asked on here as of yet (provided it makes it up to #2). I thank who ever helps me in advance.

1) no
2) no need to do whatever your talking about...there is no order to installing anything, just install wine, setup the fake windows drive in your /home/user directory, then start installing your apps/games....
i guess this is somewhat of an order on setting up wine, but this is the only guidelines you need to follow.

I was afriad of that. I did this already. I even installed the DOSemu package to help with emulation on DOS programs. Wines simply sux for Red Hat 7.3 I'm sure winex is awsome, but it can not run on Red Hat 7.3. Considering all the work I have to go through to setup winex with Red Hat 9.0, I much rather get Lindows or Lycoris, where this is already done.

Don't get me wrong, I love the thrill of trouble-shooting it. But I dont like the thrill of anger when I have to down load reliable packages from another place outside of Red Hat.

Thanks for your help! <smiles>
