Wine: Running Windows Apps With Live Distro

I'm trying to run Manga Studio Debut 4 with Wine Live. I have successfully installed it on the hard drive. I then used Remastersys to create a custom iso with Manga Studio on it. I booted the iso live, but Manga Studio exited with errors. (I have got Adobe Illustrator to work live, so I know something is possible).

To verify if there was maybe some corruption in the remastered iso, I installed the iso to a hard drive. I booted the hard drive and Manga Studio was fine. So, Remastersys was perfect.

The Wine forum doesn't support running Wine Live, nor is their forum very busy. This appears not be a Remastersys problem either. So, I have to reach out to the general Linux crowd.

I'm not using proprietary video drivers, so it's not casper scripts, as far as I know.

I need it to work live. Anyone know what might be going on?

I'm guessing your program wants to write to a read-only part of your system, which will be most of it if you're running an ISO. You could try to create a new partition with tempfs on it at boot time, tell wine to use it as a drive, and then either configure your software to put its variable files there or just copy it there altogether at every boot. This is, of course, a very ugly hack, but as you say wine does not support Live, it will probably not provide a way to do this automatically with only the files that need it.

(It is possible that the is a way to interrupt write attempts to the read-only partition and pass them through a script that copies the files onto an rw partion and writes to them there. But this is just a wild guess and cannot be considered much prettier. Also, you will have to open a new topic with a very different subject to get information on this.)
