Wine restarts X server

Hello.
Somehow wine (0.9.25) and wineutils suchas winecfg are restarting my X server on Debian Etch. Someone has any ideas what might cause this ?

Seeing that several people have viewed this and not posted, I figured I'll jump in here.

Have you looked at the logs for X to see what's happening? do /var/log/Xorg.log or /var/log/messages show anything unusual? If you don't see anything there, can you post them so we can parse through them? Does wine immediately crash X, or does it happen after a while? More information would help us all.

Hello everybody,

the same problem... this is the only error message I found in the logs, this one was in '/var/log/Xorg.0.log.old' from before crash:

Backtrace:
0: /etc/X11/X(xf86SigHandler+0x88) [0x80d40e8]
1: [0xbfffe420]

Fatal server error:
Caught signal 11. Server aborting

When I run wine or winecfg, it only creates directory wine-<some random code> in my home folder.. then crashes and restarts X.

Ok, so the next question would be: where did wine come from? Did you download it, or was it preinstalled? Have you attempted to remove and then reinstall wine?

Well, I just updated to newer display drivers and problem seems to be solved.

Old driver:
NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-9746-pkg1.run
New driver:
NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-9755-pkg1.run

I hope this helps..

I downloaded wine 0.9.32 (latest release) just today and compiled it myself. And I never had wine installed before in this Linux installation.
