Unhappy Wine Registry problems...

i'm trying to installl Morrowind using wine and it said i needed to merge winedefault.reg by using "regedit winedefault.reg". i use this command and nothing happens. i still get the same error. when i try and merge the system.reg file i get a TON of errors like this:

regedit: setValue failed to open key <whatever key>

i've googled the heck out this, searched this forum and searched on winehq.com but still nothing. i've gotten 1 program to work fine called UltraISO, it converts stuff to iso, but i cant get Morrowind installed.
any clue what to do?
