wine registry problem
this whole learning linux thing is really frustrating and time consuming. I need to burn an image so that i may test my network on another computer but i cant seem to do that until i get nero burner. So i have to get wine working to get nero burner. So i downloaded wine-20040716-1fc2winehq.i386.rpm for my fedora core 2 linux distro and installed it using the rpm command in the terminal and it all seemed to work correctley. I could run wine notepad and start the install on .exe programs. But right before installing something it gives me errors. I can get kazaa lite's install wizard to ome up and go through akll the steps, it is just when it actually starts to install it gives me this error about aboutnot being able to execute the "group" constant (I cant give u the exact error because the error has spontaneously changed for no reason to the one below)
I heard that kazaa lite has problems installing on any wine installation, so i tried installing half-life. When trying to install half-life i run wine /mnt/cdrom/Setup.exe and it gives me this odd error. I just cant figure out what is going on can someone hlp me wit this. and i know there are hundreds of forum threads about wine problems, but none of them seem to have the same problem as me and if they do the answer is in advanced linux terms that i cant understand.
[dustin@pcp02300049pcs cdrom]$ wine /mnt/cdrom/Setup.exe
wineserver: /home/dustin/.wine/config is not a valid registry file
wine: for some mysterious reason, the wine server failed to run.
P.S.- Why is there no easy installation wizard in linux and if there is can someone give me a link or something so i can get it. Because all this manual installing and coniguration is driving me insane, i keep coming across problem after problem. (sorry if this sounds like a sheltered windows user comment)

Wine can be tough...especially for a new user. I like using WineX from CVS, but that is a different story. Have you tried to find another native program that might work better? K3B is really nice and works quite well

well initally you said that you wanted to run Nero, so I pointed you that way...this is different.
Look for a tool called: winesetuptk, I think that will get you up and running. Oh and HL is great on linux...runs very well.
