Wine Questions

OK I have it installed.I believe to use it I bring up a terminal and type wine notepad for example.Now if I download a windows based program do I have to save to a certain spot to use with wine.I downloaded and installed DVD Decrypter and had it up and running.The problem I had was showed no dvd drive.Now where do I go to let it know I do have a drive.Where do I see the c drive and all the windows folders that go along with it .

there are lots of different ways to setup wine i think but if it helps for me i have a folder named
~/.wine/dosdevices
and in there are symbolic links that look like this to my drive mountpoints
gary:~/.wine/dosdevices $ ls
c: d: e: f:
gary:~/.wine/dosdevices $ ls -l
total 0
lrwxrwxrwx 1 gary users 12 2005-01-24 14:52 c: -> /home/gary/c
lrwxrwxrwx 1 gary users 11 2005-01-24 14:52 d: -> /home/gary/
lrwxrwxrwx 1 gary users 10 2005-01-24 14:52 e: -> /mnt/cdrom
lrwxrwxrwx 1 gary users 8 2005-01-25 02:24 f: -> /mnt/dvd

I'm a newbie I made dosdevices directory and have done this
[lynn@localhost ~]$ cd /etc/wine/dosdevices
[lynn@localhost dosdevices]$ ls -l
total 8
lrwxrwxrwx 1 lynn lynn 8 Apr 9 22:06 hdc -> /dev/hdc
lrwxrwxrwx 1 lynn lynn 8 Apr 9 22:07 hdd -> /dev/hdd
[lynn@localhost dosdevices]$

missing something but I have links in the dosdevices directory to my cdrom and dvd burner
