Wine question

I've been messing with WINE (pretty successfully) and I've noticed something.

WINE basically returns the program's local directory as my home directory instead of the directory the exe is run from.

Is there a way to fix that?

Generally all wine default directories are stored as symlinks in ~/.wine/dosdevices.
Thinking again.. isnt it supposed to show your home dir as the default location instead of the program directory?

That's a bit out of sync with Windows.

In Windows, a program run at C:\PrgDir would expect to find the local file "Reqfile.ini" in C:\PrgDir, not C:\My Documents.

Not at all as your home dir is Z:/home/<user>...
of course this depends on how you configured wine..

the wine manual (that i recommend you read, or at least look through when you have a problem with wine) says this about your problem:

Quote:
WINEPREFIX
If set, the content of this variable is taken as
the name of the directory where wine stores its
data (the default is $HOME/.wine ). This directory
is also used to identify the socket which is used
to communicate with the wineserver. All wine pro-
cesses using the same wineserver (i.e.: same user)
share certain things like registry, shared memory,
and config file. By setting WINEPREFIX to differ-
ent values for different wine processes, it is pos-
sible to run a number of truly independent wine
processes.
