I believe that both the version from the site AND the version in apt are both listed as unstable(ie. possibly broken for some people). I would recommend compiling from source available here:

http://sourceforge.net/project/showf...ckage_id=77449

I would also do some additional reading at debian or at WineHQ. I wasn't able to find anything that jumped out at me, but maybe searching the community will turn up something if compiling from source doesn't help any.

Being a BSD lover I prefer source...

EDIT: there may also be a "stable" version, though 'much older' as debian feels strongly in keeping the bleeding edge out of view(amen to them).

ok although I did get it frome wineHQ itself I did get the file you are talking about...

right now I am going to synaptic and uninstalling it also I am uninstalling what i just installed last night..

Ill see if a new instalation will do any better...

one thing.. do I need windows or a link to my Hd that has windows on it>?

well well see if it goes good ill let u know...

Again.. after installing it should it show up on the menu? and if so where?

I installed bittorrent-4.4.0.linux_i686-2_all_python2.4 and it also did not show up I looked in the menu updating tool yet could not find it there I also looked for it in serch but all that it found was a readme file in its name...

one thing when compiling it frome the source after ./configure it promps me this

Configure finished. Do 'make depend && make' to compile Wine.

now I do beleve it wants me to do..

# make depend && make

now is that right and is that all or do i need to do somthing else later? i did do after that

#make install
and
make clean

was this right
