Did you try re-installing wine? It looks to me like your dll files aren't installed correctly.

well i have mandrake 10.0 and i installed them on rpmdrake 10.0....they were already on my cd's i have so if they installed wrong it wasnt my fault lol

njbrain 03-22-2004 09:29 PM

Ok, uninstall that version of wine, and go to www.winehq.org, and download the lastest stable release, unpack it, and change to the fresh wine directory, and run "tools/wineinstall". It should work fine.

ok i will try that......do i have to log in as root to do that

njbrain 03-22-2004 09:44 PM

NO! Do not! It will ask you for the root password when it need it, but don't give it before, or it will screw your install up! I found out the hard way.

I see that WINE has already been configured, so I'll skip that.

yes i did....
see i tried to install this one first and it wouldnt work then i found out wine came with mandrake 10.......so i dont know what the problem is....

Em3rald 03-23-2004 01:05 AM

I am not entirely sure this will help with your specifi problem, but I had troubles installing WINE too. I found a wine configuration toolkit which solved my problem (namely, it didn't create any of the required folders or config file).

you can download it here ....

http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/w...6.rpm?download

The original link is from here ...

http://sourceforge.net/project/showf...?group_id=6241

It works very nicely. Once you run this RPM, it puts the program in your [./usr/bin] folder and the program is called winesetuptk.

This program was very quick and slick, I highly recommend it ... although I am not sure if it will solve *your* problem, it certainly will solve other's problems!

Good Luck!

shortman1984 03-23-2004 11:44 AM

well it is getting better now i get this error

Drive D: unknown filesystem type L"ntfs", defaulting to 'win95'.
Warning: access to temporary directory '/mnt/cdrom' failed (Read-only file system).
fixme:reg:_nt_dump_lf unknown Win XP node id 0x686c: do we need to add support for it ?

and a window pops up and says this

An updated version of the Windows Install is required to install Microsoft Office XP Professional with FrontPage.
This beta version of Microsoft Windows 2000 must be upgraded before installation can proceed

i think im gettin closer to getting it to work

njbrain 03-23-2004 03:59 PM

Try re-installing Wine, and choosing "Fake Windows".
Noah

shortman1984 03-23-2004 05:49 PM

well i still cant get wine that i got off of winehq.com to work....im still using mandrakes wine........

I just now see your problem. You have to answer "yes" to the above question.
