Has anyone managed to get Wine to work with Mandrake 9.1? I get the message that Wine needs Xmessage to work properly. I have noted the threads which have advised installing the appropriate xfree86-contribs and have done that (getting the message that everything has been installed) ... so I'm a little stuck
Thanks for any advice
try starting a terminal, using the 'su' command followed
by your root pass, then typnig 'urpmi wine', and then
pressing enter. if that does not work, try going to
rpmfind.net and searching for the files wine asks for.
I used www.codeweavers.com wine and it loaded up ok. However, not much seems to work with wine. They do however have a list of working applications.
Their wine is set up with a GUI.
You will have to remove the existing wine installation.
A bit of reading on the net suggest to install the mesa-devel packadge, but there is no such packadge for Mandrake 9.1, and installing the XFree86-devel doesn't work either.
I installed Codeweavers Wine. It installed perfectly. Only one problem. Apparently I need xmessage. "Who is your daddy and what does he do?" Oh, sorry, that slipped.
I meant to ask, Where do I get xmessage?
Sincerely,
Lord Rashid
I was able to get Codeweavers wine to work in Mandrake 9.1
I went to > er, Start?> Configuration> Manage Packages?> THen searched for the RPM mentioned above and it installed perfectly. Actually when I did the RPM search it came up with that rpm but it didnt install correctly and just caused errors. But you'll find the correct RPM on Disk 2 of your install disks. I was finally able to play Megaman 4 and run some WIndows apps. =)
