Wine Locks Up Computer Upon Start Up
Hello. I have been running Simply Mepis 3.3 (I believe) as my primary OS for several months now. There are some apps I have for windows that there are currently no Linux equivalents for (things such as the capture software for my ADS usb video device, My Internet Call Director program, Gamemaker, various Games, etc), so I want to get Wine working. The trouble is, it inexplicably crashes every time I try to get it going. I even went through a long download to get the latest version to see if that works, and it doesn't. It ran fine on my computer when I was using DSL Linux and never gave me any such problems.
I have 384 MB ram, and Celeron Processor (1000 MHZ), 40 GB HDD, ASUS motherboard with onboard SIS 16MB video card.
Someone sugested it might be a Ram problem, but the 4 hours of RAM scanning I did turned up nothing (granted, I quite after 4 hours with no errors because I had things to do), and I even went so far as to take sticks of RAM out to see if that solved the problem. I don't think it is a RAM problem, because WINE is the only app to cause the crash.
Does anybody have any idea as to what the problem might be and how to fix it?
