wine is MESSED but still very cool
When I run a windows prog off my read-only NTFS filesystem, I get a tonnage of problems ... like some times it just doesn't do anything, and when I go to the System Monitor, wine is actually running ... or like I run a prog and it just crashes or quits in the middle of it's use ... you know. And I get all these error messages. What do you think could be going on? I know there's a lot of possibilites but what do you think is generally happening? Could it be my read-only drive?

It very well could be. Read this short page:

Yuck. That kinda sucks ... I have NTFS, read only, XP, and I'm going directly from my drive. That's like worst-case scenario, lol. Oh well. If I install a fake windows drive (an option in wine), can I install win progs onto my ext3 drive and run them that way?

Wow that works a lot better! I setup a fake drive and it runs a lot smoother, but still runs into lots of compatibility problems. I want to run WineX, but there's too many bugs :(
