Wine installtion problem(mounting NTFS drive)

i have problems on installing wine in redhat 9, i would like to run programs that have already installed in windows partition, what i did was i mounted the XP hard drive, then execute ./wineinstall,but it said that it is not advisable to install wine under root, so i log in another user, and install it...problems came halfway saying that linux cannot find/detect any windows partition(may be its becuz normal users does not have privilege to access to the mounted ntfs drive) what should i do now? thx

if you want the most success with your experience with wine, then i would
definetly recommend you just stick with the fake windows drive that you
create within your users home folder ... that is going to be my suggestion to
you, because since you mentionn NTFS and Wine in the same sentence, i
wont even touch upon it, cause your basically going to fight a losing battle ..
it wouldn't be so bad if it was a fat32 drive, although i still don't recommend
using a windows installation at all, but it would be easier to troubleshoot
and get working ....
