Wine - I need help

I tried to install the rpm version of wine. It seemed to install, but when I tried to run "notepad" to check it out, I got the following error:

wine client error:1a: version mismatch 118/126.
Your wineserver binary was not upgraded correctly,
or you have an older one somewhere in your PATH.
Or maybe the wrong wineserver is still running?

What PATH are they talking about, and how would I find whether I have the wrong wineserver still running? (I uninstalled the old version of wine before I installed the new one)

Any help is much appreciated!

which version of wine did you install?
i will point you to this version here in case thats not that one you did...
there may have been issues (that i don't know about) with an older version of wine and the new version of mandrake...so since this one was released for mandy 4 days ago, i'm sure it should work with 9.2...

I used the 20031016 version. When I downloaded it, it seemed to be the latest non-beta version. I'll try this newer one when I get home and see if it works. Thanks

I installed the 20031212 version, and when I tried notepad, I got this:

Could not stat /root/.wine/${HOME} (No such file or directory), ignoring drive F:
Could not stat /tmp/winetmp/${USER} (No such file or directory), ignoring drive G:
Warning: could not find wine config [Drive x] entry for current working directory /root; starting in windows directory.
Invalid path L"G:\\" for L"temp" directory: does not exist.
Perhaps you have not properly edited your Wine configuration file (/root/.wine/config)

I looked in the config file, but I couldn't figure out where it could be wrong (could just be my newbie ignorance). Any advice?
