Question Wine - how to install and run a Windows application

I have Linux Mint 15 Cinnamon 32-bit.

I want to install and run Irfanview, a Windows app.

I have downloaded Wine and PlayOnLinux.

I have a virtual drives ready.

I have done this before, on different machines, about two years ago and with great success. All I needed was to right-click the .exe file and choose to install with Wine.

Now, just no programme is executed when I do this. I have also double-clicked on the setup.exe that resides in my virtual C:\ProgramFiles

What am I missing here?

I think you need to run winecfg.

You didn't or shouldn't have needed to install basically two versions of wine.

There should be a wine control panel(maybe is is winecfg) sort of way to use to select setup.exe or other installer apps.

I have the Wine config control panel but just nothing happens when I select the setup.exe file.

why download some unknown version?
install using your package manager
Code:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install wine
