Wine...freezing...

Well I installed Wine and used WineSetupTk to configure it and whenever I load something in Wine that requires me to open a file, everything freezes and have to manually restart. For example if I wanted to open notepad then I clicked File and open, it would freeze after "Open" was clicked. What have I done wrong? Is there something better I can use to configure Wine besides WineSetupTk?
