Wine for FEDORA CORE 6 - LINK ?


Hi, i am using fedora core 6 O.S. I want to run some softwares of
windows ( softwares that run fine on windows but not on linux without
Wine) how can i do it ?
I know i can do it using Wine . But where to download it
from FOR FEDORA CORE 6 ?
Any help to me in this matter would be very much grateful for me.
Please help !

On some distros, WINE will already be installed (do ls -a in your home directory to see). If not, it will be available using the package manager.

You may also want to look at Crossover (Codeweavers.com). This is the commercial version of WINE.

Package manager: The tool for installing and updating software. It will be in your menus somewhere---it's typically labelled "install software", "install applications" or something similar.

hi there
i installed the Wine using yum installer
but now i've no clue how to use it
can u help me a little bit
I am having a CD with me having a dictionary in it . It runs fine with
windows . But i am not able to run it or use it in fedora core 6 o.s. on
the same machine . i 've tried all the possible options including trying
to run it on the Wine software . Is it that i'll have to mount the CD before using it or what ?
I have no clue at all !
Please help !

I am not an expert on WINE. I mostly use the commercial version (Crossover)

Take a look at "man wine" and also the documentation at the WINE website.

Assuming that everything is configured, the typical terminal method is to simply enter "wine programname"
