Wine Error Warcraft II ToD

Hello all,

I'm trying to get warcraft 2 going with wine.

I am running RH8, and I have downloaded and installed the latest
rpm from winehq.

I have copied the default config from /etc/wine, into the .wine directory
created in both /root and my /home/<usr>.

I removed the comment in front of the windows version, and kept it at
win98.

As root only, not as my usr account, I am able to run *ONLY* the
autorun.exe from either the mounted cd, or the mounted iso image
of the cd. However, when I try to click on "install warcraft" OR if
I try to run the install.exe directly, Wine just hangs.

If I run the install.exe directly, I get the following output:

[root@XXX XXX]# wine mnt/iso/install.exe
Warning: unprotecting the first 64KB of memory to allow real-mode calls.
NULL pointer accesses will no longer be caught.
Preparing to install Warcraft II...
err:int:TIMER_TimerProc DOS timer has been stuck for 60 seconds...
err:int:TIMER_TimerProc DOS timer has been stuck for 60 seconds...

I DO have a windows partition, and I can mount it, and I get the same
error if i try to run the game from where it is already installed, without the
"Preparing to install Warcraft II..." of course.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Are you using the latest version of Wine? If you used an RH8 RPM probably not. You should really upgrade your distro, RH8/9/FC1 are no longer supported or secure

Yeah, I'm using:
wine-20040914-1rh8winehq.i386.rpm

Do you think I would have better luck installing from source?

By the way, have you had, or heard of anyone who has had
any issues using the upgrade tool that comes with FC2?
I'm always hesitant of the automatic upgrades, you never know
what they will destroy.

Thanks.
