Wine Error - IrfanView
I have seen several posts of people getting IrfanView to work correctly, however, I have not been able to do so. I am able to install without issues, but when I go to run IrfanView I get the following error:
Code:

I am using Wine stable 1.0 with IrfanView 4.20 on Fedora 9. Any ideas on what the problem may be or how to resolve it?

Maybe they go a different version of the program working. According to the
Wine AppDB version 3.97 was good, and newer ones don't run so well.

Thanks for the tip, I was trying v4.20 which according to the WineDB the user reported it wouldnt start. I switched to 4.10 and works no problem now.

why do you want to use that? I am just asking because i never found a good use/reason to use it .
Have you looked into XnView ( rpm or tar)
http://pagesperso-orange.fr/pierre.g...loadlinux.html
and for just viewing Gthumb( default install) is good for small and slight editing of contrast and brightness ,and batch .So is Image Magick

There was a time when linux lacked a decent image viewer but irfanview was available.
The reason why wine was created was probably because many of us reject change

IrfanView has a lot more options than the Gthumb and still just as light weight but there are several key functions missing from that app. I took a look at XnView but looks like its not maintained for a few years now. I think the update says something like 2005 for the Linux distro. The available Linux distros are FC4 or Red Hat 6 so its been a while on those. I tried to install FC4 distro both rpm and the gzip but neither one ofthem work on my FC9 install. I get the main menu where I have the option to open something but then a see a quick flash of something on the screen and it goes away. Trying to open the other way by right-clicking on the picture itself and manually opening with xnview I see the same behavior. Since the distro doesnt look maintained anyways. I am definatly open to other linux apps but I havent found anything that is fast and light-weight as IrfanView with as many options.

I don't know if it has all the features you would like, but I really like gqview. It's pretty quick and lightweight.
