Wine/Emulators for windows programs

hi guys,

i've been trying to get photoshop to work on my mandriva desktop, but i'm not sure how i should do it.

I downloaded Wine, but i think i got the source code version and i have no clue as to how to make it work.

Also, what is the range of windows programs that can be ported to linux, like cutting edge stuff including games that isnt availible for linux, ex:

- call of duty or counterstrike :)
- msn messenger
- my motherboard probe software

Frank's Corner is a good start point to install apps. If you want games, Cedega is designed to run most games in *Nix.

As wine is part of the Mandriva distribution, the command 'urpmi wine' will install it for you with no hassle.

There are various apps like msn messenger, e.g. gaim (which is also compatible with AIM, jabber, yahoo, etc).

once again 'urpmi gaim'.

Motherboard sensors 'urpmi lm-sensors' or even ksensors if you want more graphics.

Call of Duty site gives a patch for linux servers, so I assume they support linux for users.

thanx for the info!

about call of duty, the compatibility is only for linux servers, not clients, thats why i asked. it anoys me when my favourite games are only windows compatible:mad:
