Since I have upgraded to Ubuntu 13.04 from version 12.04, the display resolution of programs in Wine has been degraded. Graphics look somewhat grainy and small icons in the tool bars of different programs are unreadable. I have tried increasing the resolution of 96dpi to 150dpi, but this only makes the font larger.
Is there a simple way to get this resolved? I have tried the Ubuntu Forums but have not had one reply over the last month.
Thanks, Paul.
Tried all the recommendations given, including installing all the fonts, tried different resolutions, font smoothing, different themes; nothing helps the resolution problem. The graphics of programs in Wine are still grainy and fine details such as the icons in the toolbar of programs are unreadable and fine lines in Windows programs only display in bits and pieces.
I mean, Wine is usable, but it looks like the video resolution does not provide enough dots per inch for fine graphics in Wine since I upgraded to Ubuntu 13.04.
Setting the dots per inch higher through winecfg (from default 96 dpi to 130 dpi) solves nothing, only the fonts look bigger.
Any other suggestions?
Thanks,
Paul.
Hello jefro, I originally installed Wine when I installed Ubuntu 12.04. I later upgraded to version 12.10 and neither version had any video resolution problems I could see.
The degradation of video resolution in Wine took place when I upgraded to Ubuntu 13.04.
I wonder whether the upgrade may have disabled the video driver in Wine and it now runs a generic lower spec one.
But as it stands I have no idea as regards the whats and wherefores of the video setup on Wine, I am lost here.
Thanks, Paul.
