Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter.
For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.

Is there a downloadable demo of this game anywhere? I might be able to take a look.
and here's what happens when i say "Ok" to "Do you want to debug?"
curiously, it makes a call to NTDLL.DLL, I don't know if that is a Win98 regular DLL but you should know that I have both Win98 (on drive C) and Win2K (on drive D). I also run other games like Command & Conquer quite regularly with no problems. Further, when wine does run PocketTanks is does a really good job of it. No slow downs and I'm running it in a OpenGL window. In fact, if the CPU wasn't maxed at 100% (92% usr) I'd say I never have any problem with Wine. Perhaps the high cpu utilization is due to the OpenGL demands.
Thanks much!

Well, it works fine with my WineHQ CVS build here (with IE installed). Make sure you're using the latest version of Wine, it might be worth installing from CVS, maybe there have been recent bugfixes it needs.
The sound is a bit crackly and the game feels a bit slow, but other than that it works. Quite a fun game in fact!
Hmm, interesting - looks like it's trying to enter a void critical section. I wonder what real windows does in that situation?
Well, are you using a fake windows install? The fact that it does work sometimes (and works for me) kind of indicates a setup/config problem to me rather than a bug in wine.
