Wine and Timbuktu 5.1?

Hello all,

Has anyone gotten Timbuktu 5.1 to work with Wine?

I got it to work once and it has not worked since. I have tried running it under win9x and w2k profiles and it still doesn't seem to run.

I checked the faq for Wine and they state that 5.1 will run under the windows 9x if you want the wine debugger to show up and under w2k if you don't want the debugger to show.

Has anyone been able to ge this to run successfully and be stable? I would had to have to boot out of my linux machine to have to connect remotely to a windows machine

Just checked the Codeweavers (Crossover office--commercial version of WINE) compatibility site--Timbuktu not listed

I think I saw a post somewhere on SW that will access a Windows machine from Linux.

One of MY motivations for moving from windows to linux was to escape apps like Timbuktu....

Unfortunately in the work environment you don't get to choose what apps you can and can't use. If they choose to go with Timbuktu and I want to run linux, I have find a way to make things work. I also understand that codeweavers crossover office doesn't support linux but wine's appdb shows that they support timbuktu 5.1 and 7. Here is the link that shows this:
http://appdb.winehq.org/appview.php?appId=1853
One of the reasons I stopped looking at using crossover office is cause it didn't to support nearly as many apps as I needed. I would love to get away fom windows completely but I doubt it will happen in my work environment.

Amen--I appreciate the issues with the work environment. At least at our place, they support Linux. It is still necessary to find solutions to things.

A bit of semantics: WINE is the free version--they don't "support" anything, the way a commercial company does. Codeweavers has a limited set of things that they will stand behind when you buy their product.

What exactly do you need Timbuktu for?
