WINE and LOTUS NOTES

hi peepz!! i have a windows XP and a SUSE 10 Linux. I want my Lotus notes to run in Linux. I installed Wine 0.9.11 and i also have lotus notes 6.5.4 installed. I copied the "lotus" folder in the ".wine" directory and the necessary dll files in the ".wine/windows" directory. Then i typed this command : wine "c:\program files\lotus\notes\notes.exe"

then the logo screen of Lotus notes appeared then after 5-7 seconds.....its gone!! then nothing happens

i also tried KDE's File browser then i clicked in the notes.exe file then, a pop-up appears(its like the "open-with pop-up" of Windows) then i chose winelauncher...then the same thing happened as i have said above..

is there a dll file that is missing? or do i have to reinstall WIne? or something??!!

PLZ. HELP!!!

by the way my PC specs is:

PIII 800 Mhz
RAM: 512 MB DDR

Thanks in advance!!!

Wine and Lotus

Have a look at <censored> (and oh yes, google revealed it) or use crossover office where you can regularly install Lotus Notes 6.5.1 on.
As I have tried, 6.5.4 does not yet work.

Lotus Notes and wine

Hi,
i use Lotus Notes 6.5.4 and wine 0.9.6 newer and older versions should be work.

In your winecfg you must set usp10 to native and copy the usp10.dll in your wine system directory. Also you must set win98 of you get some problems with attachements.
You don't start notes.exe. You must start nlnotes.exe.

That work's on my installation (Suse 10.0). If you had problem's with country setting's show in your win.ini (emulation win98).

Some problem's with printing german umlaut's and the searchlist function (the cursor jump on front of first type) stay.

Best regard's

Lotus Notes and wine

Hi,

do you check the permissions of the notes files in the .wine directory. I had this problem, if i copy the file with root rights and the wine user is a normal user. Where are your notes.ini?

My directory structure is

~/.wine
~/notes654 (user.id,notes.ini)
~/notes654/data (names.nsf,headline.nsf,bookmark.nsf,desktop.dsk)
/srv/nxserver/Lotus/Notes654 (Notes binaries)

I set N:\ as ~ per winecfg or link n: in ~./wine/dosdevices,
L:\ as /srv/nxserver,
C:\ as ~/.wine/fake_windows and
X:\ as ~/.wine/fake_windows/Temp.
I use this configuration for a NXServer terminal installation. The /srv/nxserver directory is readonly. In this directory are the binary from Lotus Notes.

I placed the notes.ini in ~/notes654. So I start with

wine l:/notes654/nlnotes.exe =n:/notes654/notes.ini

You should check your notes.ini file. There are some path entries to change.
Directory=n:\notes654\data
SharedDataDirectory=l:\lotus\notes654\data\shared

I hope it help's

Hi! i've used your directory structure in my Suse Linux 10 except one, which is the L:\ as /srv/nxserver. Since i dont have any existing NXSERVER, i installed FreeNX, an NXserver included in the YAST Package. however, after i have installed FreeNX, there is "NO" /srv/nxserver. But, there is /etc/nxserver. So, i linked L:\ to /etc/nxserver. Is that OK? and another thing, after i have installed NXServer i could not start it and it generates this kind of error.

NX> 100 NXSERVER - Version 1.4.0-44 OS (GPL)
NX> 500 Error: Function status not implemented yet.
NX> 999 Bye

is having NXserver really necessary for Lotus Notes to work on Linux? is WINE not yet enough?!

tnx 4 d assist...

Hi,
wine is enough to use Lotus Notes. Then directory /srv/nxserver/notes654 is only "my" installation directory for Lotus Notes. I use it for all users on this server. This is on my server a readonly directory. It is not really nessesary for working with wine.

Important is to run winecfg to set usp10.dll as native for use with default and set win98 for use with default application. You should copy the usp10.dll from your windows installation to your ./wine/fake_windows/windows/system directory and set the permissions to the user who start wine.
Depend on your installation directory of Lotus Notes you should setup you notes.ini.
