Wine and Installing Windows Program Sketchup

Trying to install a windows program downloaded in .rar format. I have no problem opening the program using ARK but as soon as it starts to INSTALL it notices a newer version of the program and stops with error letting me know I need to get rid of that program.

This program was downloaded as an .exe and opened by wine and stopped working. How do I completely get rid of this program? Obviously RPM method won't work. I've tried using locate to find any files that are associated with this program and deleted them but I still get the error when installing. Any clues on how to completely wipe out this program. BTW the programs is Sketchup.

If you run the program "winecfg" then go to the Applications tab, you can select your installed program and hit "Remove Application".

Using wine's config to remove the program is a good start. Worth a try for sure.

The program may have an uninstaller too and might be used.

May have to manually remove bits.

Once in a while these programs simply won't remove easily. Worse comes to worse, get rid of wine and start all over.

Winecfg opens the program's Uninstaller like how Windows Add/Remove programs Control Panel applet does

I was agreeing.

I know you were, just wanted to mention that Winecfg does pull up the program's uninstaller. :)

google sketchup meshes can be opened in Blender

what is it you need to do ?

there might be a linux tool for it

and WAY the 5 year old 8
it was released in 2010

why not buy the current 2015
http://www.sketchup.com/buy/sketchup-pro

and Blender is in your OS's repos

Glad you got it working, and thanks for posting your solution. As John_VV pointed out, you might want to go to Sketchup's current website and download a newer version.

You also might want to mark this thread as solved.

My plan is to install the newest version. I use this program for my business. I do kitchen and bath remodeling and love it. Retired
