wine

Trying to uninstall wine on rh9 to install wine x and get
# rpm - e winex-20030324-fr2
error: package winex-20030324-fr2 is not installed

tried apt-get as well and come back with errors also. So the system thinks its not installed but when i try to install wine x it says it cant because the packages interfere with the installation of wine....

*ogre smash*

any ideas?

Is winex actually installed? Try "rpm -qa | grep wine" to see the names of all packages with "wine" in them. You can usually leave off the version number, like:

rpm -e winex

Thought so. After more looking it appears the prob is with the old installation of wine.
apt-get says its not installed though. when i try to rpm -e wine
I get:

error reading information on service wine: No such file or directory
error: %preun(wine-20030911-1rh9winehq) scriptlet failed, exit status 1

Now to add to that I also did a search and it appears "wine" doesn't even appear anywhere in the system anymore. nada.
I tried using synaptic to check it out and synaptic says its installed, of course it also says its a 2003 version and wine dev calls for 2002.
