wine

Well, my first post. At the risk of some one asking me why I am trying to run windows software on Linux, here goes.

Installed wine on my acerone linpus. installed ms publisher, but I get message telling me hard drive does not have enough space. I have the 120 gig version, so plenty of room.
Does anyone know if I can increase the size of the file used for drive C.

I would like to use ms pub as I have a lot of pub files. I will be looking for a linux pub, don't suppose there is a linux pub that reads ms pub files

I bought the linux version of the acerone to get into linux. Having a dual boot pc always means I boot back into XP.

I having nothing against Bill by the way, I think PC's would not be so advanced without his intervention, we may well be using the Atari big bird, or the commodor buddy, don know, maybe that would be ok.

Thanks in advance for an info or help

Regards
Falcon

I don't know about Publisher files (I don't know if Open Office has a comparable module to Publisher), but Wine doesn't use a file to act as your C drive, it just uses the .wine directory under /home. So it will have as much space as your home partition has.

I am not sure what would cause that specific error, but programs under Wine tend to be a little twitchy in general. You might want to check the Wine HQ AppDB entry for MS Office, as it should have some tips to get everything running (more or less...).

P.S.

Are you running the latest Wine? The Wine HQ front page says that one of the recent updates fixed issues in the Office 2007 installer.

re wine

Thanks for the answer, I am not sure if it is the latest version, as I downloaded it use add/remove. I think it just says version 1.
At work on the XP machine now, so I can't check.

I installed publisher 2000, I thought this might have a better chance as it is a little older.

I will check wine HQ at the areas you sugest.

Thanks and regards
