Unhappy wine

hello I am a relatively newbie , i have pclinux os that i have been using for quite a while , i used apt-get 2 download and install wine on my system
i have used wine earlier in suse9.2
now when wine got installed , whenever i run any exe app , it kinda shows some loading part and then just closes !
and as far as i can see xterm shows error that c:/windows doesnot exist , c:/windows/system32 doesnot exits , being root used configurator to cange the drive c:/ path to /root/wine (i created the wine foldeR) still same problem

Did you install wine under same user that you are trying to run programs from? The .wine dir will be under whichever home dir for the user that you installed as. If you try to run wine under root or a different user it won't be able to find .wine/drive_c/windpws folder.

Normaly the path to windows is ~/.wine/drive_c/windows

more info

could you post xterm's output?
maybe do a ls -al -R of ~/.wine/ ?

we need more info as to where your c-drive should be.
you may find it with find / -name '*c_drive*'

I'd use "winecfg" in to create the necessary directory structure for wine. It is a graphical tool so it is quite easy to use. Also check the documentation at http://www.winehq.org/ if you get into trouble. If you have problems with some specific windows application, check out http://appdb.winehq.org/
