Unhappy Wine

Hallo,
I downloaded and installed Wine rpm packages from www.winehq.org.
When i run 'wine' command i get:
wine: creating configuration directory '/root/.wine'...

And then nothing happens, not even terminal quits nor i can exit it, only shut it down.
I tried to change permission on /root and allow everybody to view/modify but nothing helps.
I understand the Wine installation has succeeded so it's not that.

Anyone has any idea?
Thanks..

Changing permissions on your root directory is generally a bad idea, and should never be necessary to run a mainstream program like wine.
Perhaps it needs to be run once as root to create the initial configuration directories.

But ordinarily wine should run just fine as a normal user.

it created a directory rigth where it said $HOME/.wine
now all you have to do is try to install a windows program. Start with the windows version of firefox to get started

by the way you should run wine as a user not root

Word of advice mate, never change the per, issions of an folders in "/" u can change the permissions in the subfolders but DONT hange permissions for any of the main folders.

To your topic, jlo_sandog is right, run wine as a user, not su. all our windows directories are now in /home/usr_name/.wine./dosdrives
