Wine

when installing windows programs using wine, how do you get arround the error that says that the program cant rename a file, and cant copy it to a directory?

this is the exact error:

An error occurred while trying to rename a file in the destination directory: MoveFile failed; code 317. Message 0x not found in file.

Are you directly taking a .exe file and trying to install, or are you just trying to use programs from a dual boot windows partition? If its from the other partition, it wont work cause its read only, but if you are doing an install, let us know what program it is and stuff. Its kinda different scenarios for different programs.

well i was trying to install a program that is in a windows partition (EXT2) although i do not have windows on this machine anymore... the program is mooeseoft encrypter... should i copy it to a linux partition first?

wow, hold up :D you say you don't have windows anymore, but you do have a windows partition which you claim is second extended? (whic isn't happening) and then you go on to say should you copy it to the linux partition first, which to me means you do have a windows partition...
so as you see i can't quite piece together what you were trying to say, but lemme just ask these direct questions and you see if you can answer them? do you have a windows FAT or NTFS drive/partition? or do you use a fake windows drive ?
also just to point out, wine doesn't support everything that runs in windows, and i am willing to bet that it doesn't support whatever mooesoft is....you have to take note that wine is stiill in alpha stages of development, and there is only limited support for certain apps...although the amounts of things it does support is growing larger all the time, you have to remember not everything is....

haha... sorry, that was my bad.... i still have a windows partition because it contains all of my music and downloads from when i had windows... and its not a EXT2, its a FAT32... i got a little confused....
