Windscribe VPN DNS stopped working

I am using Windscribe VPN because they have a decent free plan, allow torrenting, and don't require too much CLI fuckery to set up. The 10 gigabyte limit is a non-issue as I can make more accounts. It worked perfectly fine for the first few hours, but then all my connections got dropped. Disconnecting and reconnecting did not help, rebooting did not help. I did some troubleshooting and found out that I could still ping and browse the web, as long as I accessed the site by IP address and not domain. This suggests that the DNS is broken. How can I fix it?

It mysteriously started working again. I'll post again if it breaks.
