Windows writes mbr!

GNU/Linux kernel 2.6
MS Windows XP 5.1 (Service Pack 3)

Hi:
I want to install windows XP but every time I do so I need several days to get linux running again. In linux I use lilo (don't remember the version no.), which I am familiarized with. If someone could tell me how to fix the linux partition after I install xp I should appreciate it. Thanks.
