Windows update / nagios no longer works
Hi everyone,
In our company, we use nagios to do our monitoring of our servers. I have about 6 windows 2003 servers. I don't monitor very much on them, just ping, and hard drive space primarily.
The other nite, I get woken up at 330am, because nagios can't get anything from the hard drive monitors. But it can ping, because it doesn't need the windows client to do that.
So I get on the server, and nagios isn't running. Okay, maybe I didn't have the service on as automatic start. Nope, that looks fine. So I restart it.
I thought maybe I got stuck by the windows DEP protection. It was back to the original configuration, so I set it to not block nagios.
Okay, maybe a firewall got turned on or something. Nope that looks the same too.
Perhaps something is blocking port 5666 from listening. Nope that shows up when i do a netstat -an.
I reinstalled the nagios plugin, and made sure it was configured correctly. The service is running. The port is listening. Still, no monitoring from the hard drives.
I know we had a security update on the windows machines. And slowly thru the week, the rest of the machines all came down with the same problem.
We are currently running NSclient. I know its outdated, as there hasn't been an update since 2004. Is there any new updated solutions to this? I haven't found anything that works, installs easy, or does this job that I need.
Thanks,
