Windows Program on EMC Machine

Currently have a Sherline CNC machine using BDI-EMC v4.51 version. So far, the representatives of the jewelry making programs I've come across tell me that their Windows programs would not run on the Linux-emc base that the Sherline uses.

That doesn't make me very happy that Linux is being shortchanged here
Say it isn't so!

AS much as I'd dislike using the Windows software with the Sherline Is there any way this newby can use their Windows based software with the BDI-EMC version I have and have it perform satisfactorily??

Thought about installing Windows XP as only OS on computer. Also possibly a dual boot OS??

Don't have all that much knowledge of Linux and all its perimeters but any assistance the forum can give would be very much appreciated!

Thank you all very much and best wishes for a Happy & Blessed Thanksgiving.

Pete

Windows on Sherline box

According to http://www.sherline.com/CNCfaq.htm it would be possible to install a dos- or windows-based software on the pretty standard computer hardware they supply, but you will as well have to purchase new software for the driver box (which drives the servos), and that may be tough.
The jewelery "programs" might consist of just a sequence of standard cnc instructions packed in a self-extracting (exe) archive, or they contain proprietary controlling software for their own cnc device - which you would have to purchase from them.
