Windows not HDA1?????

Hi, I have decided I want to install Windows on my computer for strictly gaming. But, my SUSE 9.1 Pro already takes up hda1. Then I have an extended partition which has my home partition on hda5, swap on 6, and a partiton I use for backups and OS Images on 7. I want to shrink the extended partition and install Windows on hda3 at the end of the drive, and then use SUSE's rescue CD to reinstall Grub, which is easy enough with SUSE. Is this possible???

Shouldn't be a problem as long as you are installing Win 2K or Win XP; both will install anywhere on the computer. They will, however, rewrite your MBR, so you will need to have a Linux boot disk to correct it (use it to start Linux, then replace the MBR with either LILO or Grub and add Windows to it). Search this forum for details on each of these tasks.

Good luck.

Alright thx. Reinstalling Grub shouldn't be a problem, it is easy enough with SUSE, you just stick the install disc in and click on repair and it'll go through checking the system and then it will ask if the system is booting fine, and if you reply no it reinstalls grub for you. Anyways, thx for answering my questions, and it is Win XP Home I am installing, altho I am considering an old copy of 2K Pro I have, as it doesn't seem to crash as much as XP in my opinion. Which do you feel is a better system, when it is going to be primarily used for gaming?
