Windows Media Player plugin for Firefox on Linux?

Is there such an alternative? The official WMP doesn't have a Linux port (although it has a Mac OS X port). I read on one page that a Linux port and a Mac port were planned (looks like the Mac port has been fulfilled, but no Linux port yet).

How can I play such WMP-requiring in-page videos in Firefox on Linux?

have your tried installing the firefox mplayer plugin?

Or the Firefox-gxine plugin or the Firefox-VLC plugin?

Or even the mozilla -kaffeine plugin.

Try using Google. There are a few ways you can get multimedia working in Linux.

The easiest being mplayer, codecs, and mplayerplug-in. But any of the ways listed so far will work.

I recently installed Realplayer.

They have an rpm package based on Helix downloadable from their website.

Seems to work well in Firefox and has a favorites menu to access streams without opening a browser.

dont waist your time with realplayer. It runs very bad on fedora. Install this http://ftp.freshrpms.net/pub/freshrp....fc.noarch.rpm

rpm -i freshrpms-release-1.1-1.fc.noarch.rpm
then yum install mplayer
this will install all dependencies
install the mplayer plugin from here http://mplayerplug-in.sourceforge.net/download.php

if you want realplayer stuff go to http://www.live555.com/
install the live555 stuff, compile, and install. Just follow the directions.
