Anyone got Lilo to dual boot with windows ME?
Seen threads suggesting doesn't work, certainly won't for me. Any other (easy newbie) ways of dual booting with ME?
Oddly enough, I've yet to have a problem dual booting between Mandrake 8 and WinME. Graphical lilo and grub both seem to work without a hitch for me so it is apparently possible.
You can do it but I used GRUB (GRand Unified Bootloader). I have this working ok now, and I'm using redhat 7 and Win ME. Tried lilo. Couldn't make it work with Redhat.
See the really, really long WinME, Redhat 7, LILO, dual boot thread.
good luck.
Thanks. I've found a solution. Another thread referred to an "unofficial real DOS-mode patch for WinME". I searched and downloaded the file (mfddme13.zip). It basically patches a few system files and tells you where to copy them to. Windows ME then behaves like other versions and, most importantly, will work with Lilo and Mandrake 8. I'd recommend this solution to other ME users who have struggled dual booting. Thanks again.
