Some distros come with support for reading NTFS partitions (like Slackware). All distros can access FAT32 partitions.

So, create a new FAT32 partition and put all the shared folders there.

Hi ,
U need to mention the distro that u r using to get the correct solution. Any way if u r using redhat it would be easy for you to install ntfs rpm's follow the link
http://linux-ntfs.sourceforge.net/rpm/instructions.html
make sure u down load the right rpm(type uname -a and then download the rpm)

Hope this helps

Regards,
S.Suresh Stephen.

If your Windows partition is formatted FAT32, put something like this into /etc/fstab:
Code:
/dev/hda3 /mnt/win vfat defaults 0 0
For NTFS, something like this:
Code:
/dev/hda1 /mnt/win ntfs ro,gid=100,umask=0,nls=iso8859-15 0 0
