Windows (c) X Server?

I want to run applications remotely but I want to use X applications. I know how to do this in Linux but how would I do this in Windows? Has anyone successfully done this? If so how. I want to run this through SSH. And only SSH for security purposes. Just a quick reminder, what do I set in sshd.conf to let enable X11 forwarding? I can't remeber if I turned it off after I stopped using it for awhile.

x forwarding is only relevant under unix, i.e. you are running X on our client system. There are solutions like Xwin32, which will run an Xsession in a box under windows. Personally i use vnc though, as i can just close the vnc window and know that the program is still running on the server. All you close on VNC is a bunch of screenshots, and i can connect to my vnc session from any client computer on the network.

Hmm, can VNC run on Windows and over a SSH session? I've heard of VNC but never looked into it.

Yep - there's a VNC client for Windows which will allow you to connect to a remote X server. Not too sure if you can use the SSH setup on the Windows end...
