Window Maker and C compiler

I'm running RH9 on a olde Dell Dimension 200mhz PII and in an attemp to boost my performance I dumping GNOME for Window Maker I got it downloaded, read the instrutions to build, open a term put in the nescessary commands and BAM! Unable to locater C complier to build. I didnt install the dev package with RH so i was wondering if there was a C Compiler there, or where to get one.

P.S What other ways are there to boost performance?

Thx
Lotmr

The c-compiler (gcc) lives in the dev-package,
and you'll most likely need it if you can't find
a suitable RPM.

Other ways to boost performance is to kill all
daemons/services you won't need, and RH
(like Mandrake) starts a TON of them by default ;)

Recompiling the kernel to match your CPU and
have only stuff you actually need for your box
would help, too.

Cheers,
Tink
