Win4Lin Questions

I'm thinking about getting Win4Lin to play some certain games that don't work on wine or cedega. Does anyone know if Win4Lin will play games. It's supposed to actually install windows off a disk and then you can run windows apps in linux. On the site it says it now supports directx apps as long as they don't directly connect to the hardware(I've no idea what that means). I want to be sure before I buy it because it's pretty high dollar, 80 euros.

there are a number of programs, i think, which do this "run another os in your os". i dont really know any because i dont use them. but i know that the performance is reduced greatly when you use such applications. and do you _really_ need the windows applications you are talking about?

There are some restrictions, but they're not too daunting. You can use Windows 98 or ME, not the NT derivatives such as 2000 or XP. You may have some diffiulties if you install games in the c:\program files directory because of the space in the name. I have been using Turbo Tax with no difficulties. I think most games work
