Post win4lin and io ports

The following was taken from another forum area:
"Win4Lin is very good. Very very speedy as well. Only, no USB or device support, so, don't try to use a camera or fancy hardware with it
It emulates dos and runs a copy of Windows 95-98 on top. No xp or 2000"

I know that with the older versions, but I want to know before I install (buy) the newer versions for Win2000 & XP if they finally can do USB or networked connections from the "Windows" window. I can not seem to find the information at the web-site. Can anyone help? Please!
Thanks for the help in advance.

Short answer, no it can't do what you want.
Long answer:
Netraverse currently has two products, Win4lin and Win4linPro. The first, Win4lin 5.0, is being phased out IMHO. It required a patched kernel and kernel patches for newer kernels are not forthcoming from Netraverse. It ran win95 and win98 incredibly well but never had usb support like what you're looking for. Win4linPro 3.0-08 is the new flagship product and it runs win2k and winxp; it does not run win98 or win95. However, it runs win2k and winxp much slower and less reliably than win98 under the old win4lin 5.0. If anything, hardware support under is more limited under Win4linPro than under the old win4lin. On the plus side, you no longer need the kernel patches with Win4linPro.
