hi ,
i got a new email from mandrake
they say something about win4lin

and i'm thinking of buying it...
but...got some questions left like...
is it easy to use?
and does it REALY work
( i want macromedia MX studio , poser 5.0 , adobe programs and stuff like that to install with it on linux )

so... can anybody please tell me... something about it?
or a place with some documentations about it or something

win4lin isn't that good. the thing is, that it only supports windows 98 or ME at best and is pretty shitty to begin with. The thing you are probably looking for is VMware workstation 4.0 build 4600. you can also get a 30-day trian from them, so you can decide for yourself. i use it, but i'm still having trouble setting up cd-rw and DVD access, as well as sound being sloooow as hell. anyhow, those are just minor problems. i'm also using wine, which is free and can do more than the emulators mentioned above, it runs win alls in linux, but is harder to config. my best advice is: install windows fresh, then make space for linux, install linux and have a dual boot system. because really, running windows stuff under linux will only cause more problems/nrevewreck :scratch: then use, trust me. the fact is, windows doesn't like to have indirect access and lnux doesn't care to give windows the freedom it wants, so just do a dual boot and forget about spending money on the software that will only make thingd harder.:rolleyes:

ah... got dual boot now... but the fact is.. i never go back to linux boot up :D
because i'm like.. designing all day...

LINUX has the same programs like in Windows. For Adobe Photoshop use GIMP. To make pdf files, there are utilities that might be on your computer already. I think ps2pdf is one of them. Just output the printout to a postscript and convert. For Macromedia Flash, one of these days Corel will put it out to the public. There are tons of other programs. Do a search in your favorite search engine.

vabaliukas, vmware doesn't have overlay support for DVDs. LINUX has a bunch of DVD players. The hard part is picking which one. Also you should not have to use VMware to make CDs. Look up cdrecord or frontends (GUI) for cdrecord.

because the most comment problem for me is.. that i go graphic design for a living ... and i know my ways at the adobe programs .
but i will look it up see how all things work and things like that...
i ain't a linux expert... and linux is kinda hard to use for a new be :D

For windows, macromedia flash mx I find to be a rip off, I use SWiSH, but now I am saying goodbye to Flash, HTML, XML, DHTML, and CGI, and going for PHP.
