Is there cross-platform ability with SSH? I want to install and configure OpenSSL/SSH on the AIX server and allow secure connections from win clients to replace telnet sessions. Am I correct in configuring AIX with open SSL(having gcc, glib and other packages needed to do make, make install etc..)and have to use puTTY for the client side? Will these work together without using puTTY?

I already have a telnet/ftp client called Anita(www.april.se)that has built-in SSH ability, but I'm not sure what is needed in order to authenticate win clients to an AIX server, or if a program like puTTY is needed at all.


Any insight would be appreciated.

putty or secureCRT or cygwin or anything else from the broad range of "commercial" secure terminal emulation products will suffice.
SSH is a standardized protocol (industry standard for secure communication).
Taking a commercial product may enhance "ease of use" and - sometimes - some additional specific security aspects.
Just head on.
