will ooffice 1.1.1 rpm for fedora work on Redhat 9?
 

Hi..

I have openoffice rpms for fedora core 1 but my box has Redhat 9..I tried to install it, however there are few unresolved dependencies right now ..Thats why I would like to know if this fedora version of openoffice will work on Redhat or not..If it works, I'll try to install the missing files.

Hmm....I thought I'd get a reply to this one..Anyways, I have downloaded and installed the latest OpenOffice. However, I think that as their website dont have a separate file for every distro, then it wont matter if its Fedora or Red Hat, the rpm file should probably run on any system provided all dependencies are resolved.

My question still remains undiscussed...In case anyone amongst u friends tries a cross-distro install of openoffice, do try to post a reply here.

I upgraded my OOo - I'm on FC1 incidentally - using the standard Linux download rather than an rpm. For some reason (something I did I'm sure!) the update didn't work, so I uninstalled and started afresh which worked, although I lost the menu entries and file associations.
Soon put that right - luckily the only formats I use are the native ones for own documents, and doc, ppt, and xls for work:( - and the newer version does seem faster.
Out of interest where did you find your rpms? Might have saved me some work...;)

Well, I got these openoffice rpms as part of a Linux distro (PCQlinux) from a Popular Indian Magazine (PCQuest), which is based of Fedora Core 1.

I was wondering how these rpms have been created using the standard download file format available on the site? Any pointers on this ?
