will FC1/WBEL 3 rpms work on RH 9 ?

Hi...

I want to upgrade samba on my RH 9 box from 2.2.7a to whatever latest version of Samba I can get for my Red Hat 9....

After searching many good sites for rpms ( rpm.pbone.net, rpmfind.net, dag.weirs.com...etc), I could only locate

samba-3.0.0-8.i386.rpm for Red Hat 9...

However, I would want to use the nearest stable version of samba (may be something like > samba-3.0.8) however, those rpms are only available for Fedora Core 3, 2 or 1....Now I am not sure if they will work equally well on Red Hat 9 or not ???

Which version of samba should I go for upgrading on Red Hat 9 ( and ya pls, do not tell me to compile samba from source...I want an RPM ! )...lol..if possible, pls give the appropriate link to the download page too :))

Thanks and Regards,

--amit

I doubt they'll work. I have glibc-2.3.3-27.1 on my FC2 install. check your RH9 box for the glibc version. If they're different, it probably won't work (though you won't know for sure until you try).

You could always grab the SRPM and build it. Then you'd have an RPM built for your machine.
