Will 64 bits media player (based on MPlayer) work with 32 bit binary codecs?

Linux OS: Ubuntu 11.04 64 bit

I am going to install UMPlayer using the installer hosted on its official website (http://www.umplayer.com/) instead of installing through Synaptic Package Manager. I do not want to tell the reason why I don't use Synaptic Package Manager.

I was given 2 installer files to choose:

- umplayer_0.95_i386.deb
- umplayer_0.95_amd64.deb

Questions:
  1. If I use i386 version, will it have any problem since my Ubuntu is 64 bit?
  2. If I use amd64 version, will it work with the binary codecs since the binary codecs may be 32 bit version?

Install the 64bit version. So far I've never had any problems with 64bit media players with any common format (I've never tired with the stupid media files like .rm).
